This document provides an alphabetical list of all Institutions in which an application for redress has been received and the Redress Board considers fall within the definition of an institution as set out in section 2(3) & (4) of the Historical Institutional Abuse (NI) Act 2019. This not an exhaustive list and will be periodically updated.
Please note that compensation is not payable to anyone only because they were resident in an institution, sometime referred to as 'common experience payment'.
An applicant must describe in as much detail as possible in their Statement of Experience the type or nature of abuse they experienced, how often it occurred (frequency), how long (duration), the name or description of any abusers and the impact it has had on their life since.
The Banding Guidance and Example of Abuse will assist in considering if you should make an application for compensation.
